Product overview
Honing is a method of precision machining of holes or other machined surfaces using an oilstone (also known as a honing bar), and is a special form of grinding.
During honing, the oilstone is installed on the honing head, and the expanding mechanism expands the oilstone radially to press it against the surface of the workpiece. The honing head rotates under the drive of the machine tool spindle and performs reciprocating linear motion, or the workpiece performs reciprocating linear motion, to achieve honing processing of the workpiece.
Definition: Rolling is a method of using the cold plasticity characteristics of metal at room temperature to apply pressure to the surface of a workpiece through rolling tools, causing plastic flow of the metal on the surface of the workpiece, thereby achieving the purpose of finishing.
Principle: During rolling, rolling tools (such as ball bearings, cylindrical rollers, conical rollers, etc.) roll on the surface of the workpiece, applying pressure to the surface of the workpiece, causing plastic deformation of the metal on the surface of the workpiece, filling in small surface irregularities, and improving surface smoothness.
Process characteristics
Characteristics of honing process
Low speed large-area grinding: During honing, the cutting speed is low, the contact area between the oilstone and the workpiece surface is large, the cutting force is small, and the heat generation is low.
High precision: Honing can improve the dimensional accuracy, shape accuracy, and surface roughness of parts. After honing, the dimensional tolerance level of the hole can reach IT6~IT7, and the surface roughness Ra value can reach 0.04~0.32 microns.
Self guidance: The honing head is usually connected to the spindle of the machine tool in a floating manner. During machining, the honing head is guided by the surface of the workpiece, so the machining accuracy is less affected by the accuracy of the machine tool itself.
Good surface quality: After honing, the workpiece surface forms a cross helix cutting trajectory, which is conducive to the formation of an oil film and improves the wear resistance of the workpiece.
Characteristics of rolling process
No cutting processing: Rolling is a plastic processing method without cutting, which does not produce chips and therefore has a high material utilization rate.
Surface strengthening: After rolling, the surface metal of the workpiece undergoes cold hardening and grain refinement, forming a residual stress layer and improving the hardness and strength of the workpiece.
High precision: Rolling can significantly improve the dimensional accuracy and surface roughness of workpieces. After rolling, the surface roughness Ra value can be reduced by 2-3 levels, and even achieve a mirror effect.
High production efficiency: The rolling processing speed is fast, the production efficiency is high, and it is suitable for large-scale production.
